Do U Need PLE Hours?

Hola!

I'm just finishing up my AH internship at Helping Hands Housing Services (one more week to go of work), but will continue on working at the Program Center (16th St. and Roeser) until June (I'm a Public Ally/Americorps member). Our center is open to adults from 9am-3pm, and kids (ages 5-18) from 3-5pm. We could especially use some extra hands with the kids (we average about 16 a day, but range from about 8-30 depending on the day). We have games, computers, books, and a tv/vcr/dvd player in the center. Depending if the kids are in school we'll usually have homework/quiet time for a little bit.

We could also use some help with our larger projects like organizing our book shelf, program planning and evaluation, and volunteer recruitment. If you're interested you can reach me at my work number (602-232-0787) or email at matt at helpinghandsaz dot org (no spaces). I'll see some of you around - oh and have fun at AHMI!

Herberger Theater Tour

Hello everyone,

This is just a reminder that we will not be meeting in our typical location on Monday. Both 320 and 420 have been cancelled so that we may have the honor of touring the Herberger Theater Center located in downtown Phoenix. The Herberger will be hosting us for approximately one hour. Please arrive promptly for the tour at 4:40 in the Herberger's lobby. We will be having department meetings after the tour; so don't leave when it concludes. Find your department chair and a place to meet.

About the Herberger Theater Center
The Herberger Theater Center is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support and foster the growth of performing arts in Phoenix as the premier performance venue, arts incubator and events.

The Herberger Theater Center was conceived as a pivotal piece in the redevelopment and revitalization of downtown Phoenix. Built in 1989 to support and foster the growth of performing arts in Phoenix as a performance venue and arts incubator, the Herberger Theater Center has contributed to the cultural and educational development of the Valley. Each year, approximately 175,000 patrons, including 30,000 school-aged children share the unique experience of live performing arts.

Hola!

Hey everyone,

This is Matt. I went on the AH Fall Retreat with everyone a couple weeks ago. It was nice to be on the other side of things, and be able to help out with everything (even though I'm not officially an alum yet). I'm currently doing my AH internship with Helping Hands Housing Services (through Public Allies/Americorps), and am at their 16th St. and Roeser property. We could definitely use some volunteers out here. If anyone is looking for some PLE hours please let me know (yahi2003@yahoo.com) and I can hook you up with the right person over here. If you want to find out more info about the organization just go to www.helpinghandsaz.org. See some of you around campus or town.
